Paleokastritsa is just an either 30-40 minute foot walk or a 10 minute drive away from Liapades.
Paleokastritsa has six different secluded beaches, pebbly beaches enclosed by tall cliffs, wooded headlands, olive groves, lemon and cypress trees and a lush hilly countryside. Its stunning scenery has given Paleokastritsa the reputation of beeing the most beautiful spot within the whole of Europe.
The resort streches along its coast road that winds among the cliffs and bays and provides along its main road permanently a new, unexpected views. The sea at Paleokastritsa is blue-green, very clear and mostly cooler than in other areas on the island.
You can take one of the taxi boats, which are leaving about 1/2 hourly from Paleokastritsa's main beach for a trip around the cliffs and the caves as the "Blue Eye" cave, to Liapades Beach or further to the beautiful secluded "Paradise Beach".
Paleokastritsa does not offer a lot of nightlife but there are lots of traditional tavernas and bars where you can spend your evening in a great atmosphere.
On the end of Paleokastritsa there is the famous Byzantine Monastery, the Theotokos monastery. The current complex, the cells of the monks and the yard date back from the 18th century and some parts even to 1228. Monks are still living here and guide you through the complex.
